John
Title: John & Shadow
Artist: Negolith2
Rating: G
Medium:  Ball point pen
Spoiler:  None
Notes:  This is an illustration to go with my fanfic "Whiskey Tango Foxtrot", which can be found on both FanFiction.net and Wraithbait.  Shadow is the result of an Ancient experiment that has been running on autopilot for 10,000 years - a genetically engineered Guardian who is also a shapeshifter.

Okay, it was too big for our scanner at home, so I had to resort to a photo.   =^.^=  Enjoy!

"I just about had the name [of the movie] when a sound came from the night that made the lizard part of my brain want to piss itself and run away. I was on my feet in a heartbeat and gazing out into the darkness, my nine-mil in my hand and safety off. Now I’ve heard cougars scream before, but this was so much more … more primal it made me break out in a sweat and my head begin to pound with an adrenaline rush from hell. I could hear some noises from the village as sleepers woke and a few children cried, but they were quiet soon enough.
I glanced sideways and was not entirely surprised to see Shadow was standing and had shifted into that half-cat, half-human form. He had lost some height since his legs now bent at distorted angles, but he seemed to have gained mass in his chest and shoulders. His ears were facing forward and he had his mouth open, tongue barely showing and slightly curled, and he was sucking in breaths in quick pants like he was tasting the air. I also noticed a ridge of fur was raised the entire length of his spine."  - from 'Whiskey Tango Foxtrot'

Thanks! My favorite parts are John's bangs and his ear - those I'm particularly pleased with. :)

Wow. Very nice. I never did quite wrap my head around what the half-human form looked like!

Thanks! Glad to have helped. =^.^=

This is the first person I've done with a ball point pen, and I'm pretty tickled with how it came out. I have a source at the University who tells me the print shop across from her office can scan images up to the size of maps. I may have to check it out and get a nice clear image so you can see the softer detail.

I was curious about your icon (back at bellewhan and the fishy pic) and wow, that's a nice piece of ball point work. I assume though, that it's black ink, fine 0.5 (or less) pen? I love the depth though the dotting effect.

Why thankee! But, alas, it isn't stipple work - it was how the jpeg converted. That's why I need to find a little bit bigger scanner, and when I do, I'll repost so you can see the pic better.

And I used a medium point, and there are beelions and beelions of little pen strokes, one after the other.... I think I have an inner Monk, that's all there is to it. :)

Oh, I love it. Your penwork really never ceases to astonish, and the contrast between their two profiles still works beautifully.

Great work.

Awww,thanks!

When I e-mailed a copy to my mum, her comment was she wanted to comb down the cowlick and 'carefully' pet the kitty. :)

John & Shadow Art
The pix online does not even begin to do half-justice to the real stuff. It's absolutely astonishing out-of-this-world AMAZING!!!

I totally made this my desktop! I don't think I'll keep it as such for long (all my messy icons obscure your lovely artwork too much), but I wanna see how my friends react. :-D They already kinda think I'm weird because I had Chuck (the gate technician) as my desktop for half a year . . .

Heh. Tell me how your friends react - I'm curious.

Um, there's nothing wrong with Chuck. Just because he looks scarily like a love-child produced between John & Rodney.... =^.^= No, nothing wrong with that.

That is stunningly gorgeous. I saw your icon of this over on [info]paintedspires and headed over to see if it was from a larger drawing. I'm glad I did, because now I need to go and read "Whiskey Tango Foxtrot" (love that title, by the way).

D'awww. Thanks!

And that title? It will become very apparent why it was used by the middle of the first chapter.... ;)
